Does the new OINP stream have separate pathways for skilled vs "essential" workers?

trades_toronto
I work a role that wouldn't be considered highly skilled on paper (TEER 4-5 range). Is there still a route for me under the redesigned Ontario stream, or is it only for high-skill roles now?

Yes — the Workforce Priority stream is structured as one stream with three separate pathways: one for TEER 0-3 (skilled) occupations, one specifically for TEER 4-5 (essential worker) occupations, and a separate one for self-employed physicians, each with its own language/education/experience bar. So there is a route for essential-worker roles, it's just a different pathway with different requirements than the skilled-worker one, don't assume the skilled-pathway criteria apply to you. General information from my own experience, not legal advice — for anything specific to your file, a licensed RCIC or immigration lawyer can look at your actual documents.
