My program isn't a "degree" — do I need to check the PGWP field-of-study list before I even apply?

Yes — check it before you commit, not after. The field-of-study rule only applies if your study permit is applied for on/after Nov 1, 2024 AND your program is non-degree (grad certificates count as non-degree). Bachelor's/master's/doctoral grads are exempt entirely. IRCC confirmed the list itself isn't changing for the rest of 2026 (it was last expanded in 2025), but it's still a real filter — ask the school which CIP code the program is registered under and cross-check it yourself rather than trusting a recruiter.
