Does my PGWP length depend on my program length or is it always 3 years?

I keep hearing people say "get the 3-year PGWP" like it's automatic. My diploma is 2 years — do I actually get 3 years?

PGWP length tracks your program length, up to a 3-year cap — a 2-year program generally gets you a 2-year PGWP, not 3. The one exception is a master's program of at least 8 months, which can get the full 3-year PGWP even though the program itself is shorter (a 2024 rule change specifically for master's grads).
