Question 1 of 7

Do you have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer?

Most AAIP worker streams need a valid Alberta job offer (with a positive LMIA or an accepted LMIA-exempt work permit).

The Alberta AAIP streams

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. It has eight streams — four for workers and four for entrepreneurs — each with its own criteria. There is no single points score: you apply to the stream whose requirements you meet.

Entrepreneur streams

Stream names and criteria are transcribed from the official Alberta.ca AAIP pages (last checked July 21, 2026). Exact NOC lists, wages, and settlement funds depend on each stream’s full requirements, and AAIP draws for the Express Entry and entrepreneur streams are selective — this is a starting point for planning, not legal or immigration advice. Confirm the current criteria on alberta.ca.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AAIP have a points calculator?

No. Unlike Express Entry (CRS) or some provinces, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program does not publish a public points score. Eligibility is stream-by-stream: you either meet a stream’s criteria or you don’t. This tool checks which streams your profile may fit — it is not a score calculator.

How many AAIP streams are there?

Eight: four for workers (Alberta Opportunity, Tourism & Hospitality, Alberta Express Entry, and Rural Renewal) and four for entrepreneurs (Rural Entrepreneur, Graduate Entrepreneur, Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur, and Farm).

Do I need a job offer for the AAIP?

For most worker streams, yes — the Alberta Opportunity, Tourism & Hospitality, and Rural Renewal streams all require an Alberta job offer. The Alberta Express Entry Stream is the exception: it selects candidates from the federal Express Entry pool by invitation, with no direct application and no job offer required.

Is this tool official?

No. MaplePath transcribes the eligibility criteria from the official Alberta.ca AAIP pages so you can see which streams may fit, but only the AAIP’s own assessment is authoritative. Always confirm the current criteria on alberta.ca.
